Cenang Beach, Langkawi

Mr. A took his family to Langkawi Island for a quick vacation over the weekend. Off course Myvi stays home. Long distance driving in a small car packed with family and luggage from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Perlis is possible, but may not be as pleasant as taking a 55 minutes direct flight.
Quite the contrary, Mr. A did not rent a car this time. Usually that would be the first thing to do when arriving here. They took a taxi ride from the airport straight to Cenang beach, cost $18.
No time wasted, check-in to motel, then sun sea and sand till sunset.
Accomodation was at this AB Motel, one of the many affordable accomodations available at Cenang beach stretch.
For $120 a night, Mr. A got a room 10 steps away from beach, spacious room with two double beds, clean toilet with hot shower. That's all that matters.
And a white domestic short hair came together with the room.
The kids named the cat 'triki' and triki was there all the time throughout the weekend.
Triki providing good companionship outside the room.
Along the road stretch of Cenang beach, there's plenty of food outlets and shops. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is just a stroll away from the motel.
Convenient shops open till late night.
Food outlets selling kebab, pizza, pasta, thai food, local food are plentiful.
While strolling along the Cenang beach road, Mr. A stumbled upon this nice looking accomodation. It's called The Cabin Langkawi. Not exactly located next to the beach, but close enough. The exterior compounds outside the cabin looks very nice too. Perhaps next time Mr. A will try this place.

Strolling along the sidewalk, Mr. A spotted some nice looking cars being driven or parked by the roadside. Some are probably owned by tour agents and available for rental to visitors. For MPVs, the Mitsubishi Grandis seems very popular, and for small cars Mr. A spotted quite a number of the new phase Kia Picanto. Not that many Myvi or Viva on the Island though, at least not on that Cenang Beach road stretch on that particular weekend.

1000km First Service

Mr. A sent me for my first service on 21 Sept 2010. My Odo exceeded the 1000km mark by about 200km. For $160, i get engine oil replacement, ATF replacement, oil filter replacement, and some protective oily stuff on my battery connector heads. Mr. A also complaint about the rear window poor operation when winding up. Service center people made some adjustment to the bracket and oiled it up again. This time it also lasted just a few days. Mr. A however found a simple remedy to this issue. for only $7.90 he got me a new power window rubber softener liquid from Jusco Mart. So far, after 1 application only, my rear window has been working fine.

My companion Viva also had it's first service on 9 Sep 2010. At a cheaper $120, Viva received engine oil replacement, ATF replacement, oil filter replacement, and that protective oily stuff on the battery connector heads, plus something additional that i did not get, Ozone treatment. Mr. A enquired what on earth is an ozone treatment. It's basically some cabin refresher treatment to get rid of bad plasticky smell. That ozone treatment cost Mr. A $10.

While on the topic of service centers, Mr.A has not yet decided which location should he stick to for servicing myself the myvi and my companion viva next time. Apart from the obvious satisfying job done on us, other factors like great waiting area, availability of snacks from the f&b counter and quality car magazines (like Top Gear) for Mr. A to read is on the top list of his consideration criteria.

I Have Companion

On the 25th of September 2010, Mr. A was at the showroom again, this time to receive the delivery of another vehicle for Mrs. A. I was eager to meet my new companion, the Viva Elite.

I look forward to share my days ahead with the new partner. On the day Mr. A took delivery of the Viva, the odo reading was at 21km. I officially bid my welcome to the Viva.

First Sign of Trouble

On the day of pick up, Mr. A went through a list of checks with the sales person. Unfortunately my rear right side power window would wind down, but will not wind up smoothly. This annoyed Mr. A slightly. Sales person suggest to accompany Mr. A to the service center nearby for a quick check. Service center did a quick fix by applying some oil to the lining. I hope this issue will not come back again. Otherwise i'm afraid Mr. A will not have a pleasant experience driving me.

Found Myself A Home

Today i have found a home. I now have an owner (Mr. A) who will drive me around and take care of me. I was picked up on the morning of 8 September 2010 from the auto showroom delivery center. I am looking forward to serve my owner well and hopefully i will get the same in return.

Above is my official odometer on day 1. As i remembered, when Mr. A took delivery of me, my odometer read 39km. But it seems Mr. A only took a picture of my dashboard meter when the odo is 105km.

As a momento, above is the picture of me at the dealer's showroom where i was delivered to Mr. A the owner.
