Perth Zoo, Fremantle Motor Museum

This is another backlog entry. Visited Perth and Fremantle city, Western Australia in August 2007. Many changes might have occured since then. For instance, the motor museum in Freo closed down in 2008. The pictures uploaded here were what we saw of Perth and Fremantle during our short visit in 2007.

4D3N trip. MH125 flight on this Boeing 777 aircraft, reg 9M-MRJ.

IFE system available for movies and games.

About 5 hours of flight time to reach Perth airport from Kuala Lumpur. Greeted with clear blue skies on arrival, no clouds in sight.

More or less 1 hour to clear customs and immigrations. This is outside the arrival terminal.

Took a taxi from airport to The New Esplanade hotel in Perth CBD.

View from the hotel room window overlooking the Swan river. Cirque de Soleil was in town.

Another view of The New Esplanade hotel from a distance. Sandwiched between corporate office towers.

Walkabout near the hotel area. Swan Bell Tower just a stroll away.

Cafe and cruise office at the jetty area.

This place seems like a regular rendezvous point for cycling communities.

Ferry ride across Swan river.

Just a short ride from Barrack Street jetty to get across to Mends Street Jetty.

Arrived at Mends Street jetty, South Perth Esplanade.

Ferry making its return trip to Barrack street jetty.

Apartments blocks at South Perth Esplanade.

Perth CBD skyline viewed from South Perth Esplanade.

From the jetty, 15 minutes walk to Perth Zoo entrance via Mends street.

Enjoyed the zoo visit.

Especially this cuties. Fascinating experience to watch the meerkats bobbing their heads up and down. Always on the lookout guarding their territory.

Perth Zoo also have beautiful picnic lawns.

Perth Zoo visit, checked. To the jetty to catch ferry ride back.

Transperth ferry approaching Mends street jetty.

Another picture of The New Esplanade hotel squeezed among the office buildings. Evening rush hour time. More cars on the roads as urbanites drive home from work.

Continued strolling along Mounts Bay road and Mount street. A bit of a climb here, cyclist dude hammering all the way up.

The road levels along Bellevue Terrace after the short inclined stretch, and we kept on walking.

Yup. Did it the hard way to get to King's park but it was all worth it. Amazing view of the city from up here.

Perth train station. Took the train service from Perth to Fremantle.

Train journey about 45 minutes. Arrived Fremantle station on a windy day.

Walkabout around Fremantle.

Visited Maritime Museum Shipwreck Galleries.

Had seafood platter meal at Kaili's Fish Market Cafe.

E Shed Markets for gifts and souvenirs.

B Shed. Private owner's collection of vehicles once kept inside the warehouse.

Fremantle Motor Museum was closed down in 2008. Great collection of antique and classic vehicles.
Glad that we had the opportunity to visit.

The museum was the highlight of our visit to Fremantle. Done with the museum, took the train service back to Perth city. By the time we reached the hotel, it was already dark.

Spent the last day in Perth by exploring some other parts of the city.

Sunset by the river.

Quiet after dark.

Checkout from hotel by 11am. Took the airport shuttle service, pick up from hotel front. Arrived Perth airport at 12 noon.

Inside the terminal, departure area.

Not a busy airport. Just a few aircraft seen. SQ flight was already at the gate.

Moments later, spotted the arrival of MH flight.

MH124. Boeing 777. Reg 9M-MRB for the flight home.

END.
