Trip starts from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on a fine saturday morning.
First to the Bag Drop counter. Check-in done via web earlier at home.
Then for a quick breakfast at a cafe, before we proceed to the boarding gate.
At Gate B7 holding area, looking out the window watching our aircraft being prepared for the flight to Langkawi.
Aircraft ready. Not long after, announcement made by ground staff for passengers to board. MH1438. Reg 9M-MLV.
This aircraft has a better equipped cabin interior. Large IFE screen, leather seats, cabin mood lighting.
On time pushback for departure. 1100hrs.
Journey Prayer displayed briefly on the IFE screen before departure.
After about 60 minutes flight time, we descended to our destination.
View from the aircraft right window.
Pulau Rebak Besar boat marina seen from the aircraft left window, as the pilot makes the final approach to land at Langkawi International airport.
Thuds, rubber screeching sound and bumpy rolls as the aircraft landed and slowed down on the runway.
A pleasant weather than Kuala Lumpur greeted our arrival to Langkawi. Disembarked using the passenger stairs truck via the rear door.
And a short walk to the airport arrival hall.
AirAsia's Airbus A320 aircraft which has arrived Langkawi airport much earlier than our Malaysia Airlines flight.
Row of car rental counters inside the arrival hall near the baggage carousel area.
No car rental for this trip. Took a taxi from the airport to our accomodation at Pantai Cenang. Fare is based on number of person travelling. Table below is a summary of the taxi fare from the airport to various locations in Langkawi Island. This info is as of our date of visit to Langkawi in Oct 2014.
The AirAsia pictured earlier took off to its next destination.
Stayed at a beach motel the Langkapuri Inn, Langkawi. A good enough accomodation for a few nights stay at the Pantai Cenang beach stretch. 10 minutes by taxi from the airport.
Room on the first floor via the staircase. Secure key card access to room for added security.
Upper floor unit has a nice balcony with chairs and table. Ground floor unit gets a terraced pocket compartment also with chairs and table.
A small garden in between the two accomodation blocks.
Access to the beach is just a few steps away through this beach cafe. No need to wear your slippers.
If a few steps away is just too far, choose the sea fronting room located right on the beach.
The best part of this trip. The beach.
Enjoying the beach retreat.
Beach goers enjoying the sand and the warm sea water of Pantai Cenang.
Beach cafe patrons enjoying their beverages by the sea and wait for sunset.
Pantai Cenang at sunset.
Morning sunrise at Pantai Cenang. Well worth the effort to get up early and witness these beautiful scenery.
A hotel crew starts his day by cycling on the beach before he check-in for work.
Something in the sand caught his attention.
Then, on his way again enjoying the morning cycle.
Beach locals arriving office to prepare and start their daily businesses.
Getting the jetski ready.
Getting the speedboat ready.
Banana boat guy finally here too.
All the morning preparation so that tourists and visitors can enjoy the beach activities throughout the day.
Not just watersport activities here.
Beach football, stroll along the beach or a little bit of running to get the sweat out.
If all that sound too taxing, just gaze at the sea and listen to the waves.
Whatever activities you choose, Pantai Cenang is surely the place to rilex and unwind from the city life.
Spotted various types of boats and yachts on the waters of Pantai Cenang.
Also an excellent location to spot aircraft landing and take off. The airport runway is nearby to Pantai Cenang.
The Pantai Cenang stretch is lively day or night. Plenty of shops available to get food or other necessities.
Cenang Mall. Inside, you can find Maybank branch, KFC, Starbucks, McDonalds, duty free chocolates etc.
Among the many eateries, this outlet Istanbul Kebab and Seafood is a favourite. They serve delicious doner kebab.
Final day. A few more hours left before checkout time. Last stroll along the beach.
Rain started to come down the moment we reached Langkawi airport by taxi. Two jet planes were already at the airport ready to go. Air Asia and Malindo Air.
Malindo Air was first to push back and take off.
Next, AirAsia's turn to go.
Malaysia Airlines aircraft 9M-MLG arrived from Kuala Lumpur.
30 minutes allotted time to turn around this aircraft. Airside crew starts work, rain or shine.
A close-up view of this beautiful flying machine.
It gets a little uncomfortable when it rains. Disembarking passengers given umbrellas to shelter from the rain water as they walk towards the airport terminal.
Boarding activities commenced moments later, but only after the 3 tech crews boarded first. Not on duty in the flight deck, but deadheading back to Kuala Lumpur.
Another full flight. No individual IFE screen fitted on this aircraft.
Moments later we departed for Kuala Lumpur. Time to get home. Good bye Pantai Cenang.
End.
