Jakarta Indonesia Getaway

A 4D3N family vacation trip to Jakarta Indonesia on 31 Jan 2014 . KLM Airlines had the best deal for flights from KUL to CGK return.

KL809 arriving KLIA from Schiphol Airport Amsterdam.

Travelled on this aircraft, the 'Nationaal Park Vurlaand/Tierra Del Fuego National Park', aircraft reg PH-VBI, type B777-300ER.

Seated towards the rear of cabin.

Pushback 1830hrs.

Hazy KLIA airport view from inside aircraft.

A 2 hours flight to CGK. Clearer skies ahead.

Checked in at the Ascott Jakarta apartment for 3 nights. Thamrin City is just behind the Ascott.

While the posh Grand Indonesia mall is at the other end.

View of Jakarta skyline from the apartment window.

Inside the apartment. Comfortable stay here. Well furnished with kitchen and laundry facilities and LCD TV in every bedroom.

Local dish takeaway from nearby restaurants and enjoyed at the apartment dining table. The favourite sambal hijau in the center plate.

Jakarta Car Free Sunday right in the city center. Streets usually packed with vehicles turned into pedestrian and cyclist friendly mode.

Jakarta folks took opportunity to enjoy their Sunday morning downtown.

Cyclist enjoying the car free road on Bundaran Hotel Indonesia.

Buses exempted from the car free Sunday. Public transport always available.

The car free zone extends along Jl M.H. Thamrin all the way to Monumen Nasional.

Carnival-like atmosphere.

To cool down after a good stroll along the car free street, we head down to Magnum Cafe located inside Grand Indonesia Mall.

Fatburger at Plaza Indonesia next door serves good delicious burger.

Bought some local tea to bring home. Teh Sosro is the favourite one.

Children can enjoy indoor amusement park in the malls, or swim in the pool at Ascott Apartment.

Enjoyed the stay at Ascott and had a good time over the weekend in downtown Jakarta.

After 4D3N in Jakarta, we left the city for the airport to catch our flight home.

It was a night flight, reached KLIA by 2200hrs,

Slight delay to arrival as KLIA tower had us on an odd looking holding pattern over the Straits of Malacca.

End.
